October 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of A Taste of Oregon, The Junior League of Eugene‘s award winning cookbook! Over 385,000 copies of this book have been sold since 1980. Proceeds from the cookbook sales and other Junior League activities help foster children in Lane County.
During the month of October, we’ll share more details about A Taste of Oregon and the League’s other cookbook issued in 2002, Cooking from the Coast to the Cascades. We’re also offering a copy of each book to our readers. Starting October 1, all you have to do is leave a comment on this page to be entered into our drawing.
Our copy of A Taste of Oregon has an extra draw for Eugene foodies! We wrote a feature article for TheLocalDish about the book, and asked local chef Gabriel Gil from The Rabbit Bistro to make over a recipe. Our giveaway copy of this cookbook has THREE updated recipes from Chef Gil included, written right in the book itself! With Chef Gil’s Bite of Eugene and Bite of Oregon Iron Chef wins, and upcoming invitation to cook at the James Beard House in New York, he’s heading toward Celebrity Chef status. His additions to this cookbook will make this a valuable addition to your cookbook collection.
Our chef-edited copy of A Taste of Oregon will go to the person who posts the most interesting food experience submitted to our website, Facebook page, or twitter account. Get creative, make it fun, and you can even post multiple stories! The second cookbook, Cooking from the Coast to the Cascades, will go to a winner chosen at random.
Watch for more details here.
