About

Eugene is a city that I like to call the “Epicenter” of healthy food. Not only does it offer endless choices of organic produce, meats, and dairy, Eugene is also home to many healthy food providers and restaurants.  From vegan to omnivore, celiac to lactose intolerant, however you define “Healthy”, you’ll find plenty of vendors and food makers nestled here in the beautiful Willamette Valley.

Thank you for reading, and please feel free to make suggestions and recommendations!

Hi! I’m Lori Smart.
Though I’ve only lived in Eugene a little over four years, I truly feel like I’ve finally come home. I spend most of my life on the central coast of California, truly a wine & dine mecca in its own right. However, I always felt like I was on vacation. It wasn’t until our move to Eugene that I felt like I found the place I wanted to live for the rest of my life.

My husband, John, and I have been in the Internet business for over 13 years. My skill set and interests have evolved so much over that time and have since merged into my personal interests. That’s what brought me here today. My love of food and sedentary lifestyle (sitting in front of a computer all day!) cause me to lose sight of my own health. Over the last eight months, I’ve lost a lot of weight and built up unbelievable amounts of healthy resources. Blogging regularly about the healthy food choices of Eugene is an act of love on my part, and a desire to share all I’ve learned.

Besides this blog, I’m a freelance writer for several food and tech based outlets and I’ll probably link to all my other articles from here eventually. I blog and write articles for small companies (with a pseudonym, as a ghost writer, or as myself, depending on your needs) if they don’t have the time or focus to do it in-house. If you need help keeping up with your blog, let me know and I can help out. I’m also a social media manager for several small companies, primarily healthy food based, tech, and various others. My client load is light, on purpose. Our focus is on quality, not quantity, so we just don’t take on more work than we can handle easily.

My daughter, Devyn, is also helping with content. She’s a fantastic cook and has a way with improving recipes with her own unique twist.

Devyn:
Hi!  I love the trees and seasons in Eugene. It’s a unique city with an earthy feel, and the food here can please any palate. As I find and improve new recipes, I’ll share them with you. I’m also learning photography, and unlike kids or animals, food is an ideal (unmoving!) subject!
